Florida State is projected to field one of the best defensive lines in the country when the Seminoles kick off in Camping World Stadium on September 3 against the LSU Tigers. With star players like defensive ends Jared Verse and Patrick Payton, paired with inside defenders like Braden Fiske and Joshua Farmer, a major piece of that front is defensive tackle Fabien Lovett, Sr.

Lovett started in seven games a season ago and his impact on the field was apparent in the games he missed while battling with bumps, bruises, and nagging injuries that kept him off the field. He recorded 10 tackles, a forced fumble, and a sack but the stat sheet doesn't always tell the whole story. Opponents were forced to double-team the 6-foot-4, 319-pound redshirt senior which opened up holes for the rest of the defense to tee off on.

"Size, speed, mentality, he's a physical presence up front," FSU head coach Mike Norvell said when asked about what Lovett brings to the field. "I mean, he's a great leader for us and he's really been ramping up here this last week as we've been getting closer to kick-off."

Norvell went on to say that Thursday's practice was the most active that Lovett has been with the conclusion of the preseason on the horizon. That has Norvell excited with game week just around the corner.

"Today was the most that he's done and I mean he looks really really good moving around. I'm definitely excited about that, tomorrow will be a down day like I said from the physical part of it," Norvell said. "Wednesday we'll ramp it back up and then we'll have a few days before we get in our game week mode. But definitely excited about the progress I've seen from him and just what he means to our defensive front and to this football team."

Norvell goes over the week one matchup against LSU, game planning for Jayden Daniels and more in his full interview below.
