Helmut Marko reveals Max Verstappen’s Red Bull exit tied to the 80-year-old’s contract

Ever since the Formula 1 off-season, there’s been a massive shadow above Red Bull. Although the team has proved very dominant on the track, there seems to be a lot of internal turbulence due to Christian Horner , he’s been at the centre of the power struggle and the misconduct allegations.

This has led to a lot rumors regarding a possible exit of three-time World Champion, Max Verstappen. The rumors picked more pace when according to F1 Insider, it was revealed that the Dutchman would be negotiating a deal with Mercedes during the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. So, following these rumors, Helmut Marko was asked about whether the 26-year-old could leave before the end of his contract.

Throughout his accolades -filled career, Max Verstappen has been adamant that he always wants to be in the most competitive and quickest car on the grid. The 26-year-old loves winning and has shared multiple times that being in a quick car and winning in F1 is what keeps him motivated.

But, because of the recent power struggles within Red Bull, the Dutchman has a possibility to leave the team, even after they provided him the best car on the grid for the past few years. Following this, Helmut Marko was asked about the possibility of Verstappen leaving the Milton-Keynes-based team.

Max will always drive where he finds the best car, and that’s Red Bull Racing at the moment. We’ll see how long that will be the case.

The Austrian revealed how he thinks, the three-time World Champion will go to the team that provides him the best and most competitive car. Things at Red Bull do seem to be heating up, especially since Adrian Newey’s exit and keeping this in view, anything can happen. Max Verstappen currently has a contract at Red Bull until the end of the 2028 F1 season.
