Dallas Cowboys landed a significant blow on Dan Quinn's Commanders 2024 NFL Draft plan

When the Dallas Cowboys passed on picking at 24th overall by trading down with the Detroit Lions, they risked missing out on significant talent they liked in the first round.

Per the front office, the team was considering four prospects at their original pick, with only Tyler Guyton remaining on the board by the time they were back on the clock at 29th.

Guyton was at risk of not being there, either, however, as multiple NFL teams were trying to trade up for him. 

Per Patrik Walker, who covers the team for the Cowboys themselves, revealed on Twitter/X that the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots were both trying to move up into the first round and select Guyton. 

Walker's report doesn't specify if they were aiming for 29th overall or another team's pick but clearly, the Cowboys got themselves a player other teams were willing to risk assets for.
