Dimarco Reveals Details Behind Goal of the Season Contender

Federico Dimarco stunned fans inside the roaring San Siro, breaking the deadlock against Frosinone after letting fly an unbelievable goal just past the midfield line – he has called his strike as one of his best-ever goals. The 26-year-old has had some impressive goals under his belt, but expectedly, the one against Frosinone takes the cake.

Sighting visiting goalkeeper Stefano Turati off his goal line from a mile away, the left wingback shot a 56-meter strike from the left flank, as the ball swerved and made its way past into the back of the net in an unsuspecting manner. It is also the goal from the third-highest distance out in Serie A since 2005/06, after Facundo Roncaglia and Cristiano Biraghi – both Fiorentina players.

Unsurprisingly, the first enquiry was whether he meant to do it, and Dimarco delved into the details to DAZN behind perhaps one of the goals of the season.

“At the start, I saw Denzel (Dumfries), then I saw the goalkeeper off the line and went for it. Thankfully, it went in, otherwise I would’ve got so many insults raining down on me from the stands! It is certainly one of my best goals. I didn’t start the game well and made mistakes, but the important thing was to bring home the three points and stay top.”

Post the wondergoal from Dimarco, Hakan Calhanoglu doubled the Nerazzurri’s lead against Frosinone in the second half with a penalty, becoming the highest-scoring Turk in Serie A history.
